Laser cutting wood

Laser cutting wood is incredibly popular for creating a wide range of products including scale models, architectural models, display pieces, POS items, wooden plaques, trophies and even jewellery.
Our machines laser cut and engrave wood at high speed creating clean edges with no burn marks or material flashback which makes them ideal for creating complex objects of all shapes and sizes for a wide range of products.
Because laser cutting is non-contact there is no need to change cutting tools, no additional material damage and no need to clamp your material into place, saving time and money.

What types of wood can be laser-cut?

Due to wood being a natural material each different type has different characteristics when being laser cut. The thickness, density and resin content must be taken into account. Hard woods have a much higher density and generally require more laser power/slower cutting speed in comparison to soft woods such as balsa. Manufactured woods such as MDF which contain different glues, substances and wood fibres, these can all vary in cutting speed.
Our laser cutting machines are currently in use to cut and engrave/etch a wide range of different woods around the world including; balsa, birch plywood, cork, laser ply, MDF, obeche, ply, spruce, walnut, cherry veneer MDF, Oak veneer MDF and walnut veneer MDF.
